Week 15Week 14
- The end-of-semester poster session will be held in the Golisano Atrium next Wednesday (May 20th) from 2-4pm. Plan to arrive 15-20 minutes early to set up your poster.
- This Week (All Students): Once, again, submit a pdf for your poster as a single A1 or A4 page in either portrait or landscape mode. Each presenter will again have five minutes to give the one sentence, 15 second, and 2 minute presentation of their poster.
- Final Posters are due this Friday at 11:59pm.
- Final Reports are due to your advisors this Friday by 11:59pm.
- Please complete the course evaluations. In the comments, please let me know what you felt worked in the course and what would benefit from changes, so that I can improve the course for students in the future.
Week 13
- The first round of practice poster presentations were given in-class on Tuesday.
Week 12
- Next Week (All Students): submit a .pdf for your poster (this should be a single A1/A4 page in either portrait or landscape mode). As your poster is shown on the projection screen, you will have 5 minutes to:
If time permits, we will have a general discussion after the poster presentations. We will be repeating this exercise in Week 14.
- Give the one sentence summary of your poster/project.

- Use the remaining time to address questions and receive comments from the class.

- Poster Templates: Please note that you need to have your poster as a .pd file, printable on A1 size paper (portrait or landscape - the CS department will print this for you). See the syllabus for additional details/information on paper sizes.
Week 9
- Students from Group 2 need to bring 2 copies of a brief written report on their Milestone 2 to class. Requirements can be found in the peer evaluation form posted on MyCourses.
- For Next Week: Read Ch. 9 of the Zobel text. We will use this reading to support our discussion of how to prepare our posters and final reports.
- Milestone 3 is due to your advisor next Friday by 11:59pm.
Week 8
- Students from Group 1 will present their Milestone 2 Summaries in-class this week.
- Next week, Students from Group 2 will bring 2 copies of a brief written report on their Milestone 2 to class. Requirements may be found in the peer evaluation form posted on MyCourses.
Week 7
- Milestone 2 is due on Friday at 11:59pm. Please submit your milestone materials to your advisor by this time.
- Students in Group 1 will give an in-class presentation (five minutes) the week after we return from break. Presentation slides should be submitted as a .pdf file through the MyCourses dropbox before the start of class. Requirements can be found in the peer evaluation form posted on MyCourses. The assigned grade will be plus (100%), check (85%) or minus (70%), based on instructor and peer evaluation.
- We will discuss Ch. 6 of Zobel on making graphs and figures.

- We will discuss Chs. 5 and 7 of the Zobel text in-class this week (on writing about math and algorithms).

Week 5
- Students in Group 2 will be giving presentations on Milestone 1 in-class on Tuesday. Presentation slides should be uploaded as a .pdf file through the dropbox before the start of class.
- Read Chs. 5 and 7 of Zobel before class next week. These chapters discuss strategies for writing about algorithms and math.
Week 4
- Students in Group 1 need to bring *two* copies of their Milestone 1 brief reports to class on Tuesday, and submit their report through MyCourses before class. Please see the assignment write-up for details, available through MyCourses.
- Next week students in Group 2 will give a 5-minute presentation in-class regarding their first milestone - presentation slides should be submitted as a .pdf file through MyCourses before class next week. Please see the assignment write-up for details.

Week 2
- Students in Group 2 need to bring two copies of their brief written reports to class next week.
- Milestone 1 is due to your advisor at the end of next week (Friday at 11:59pm).
- The form to be used for peer evaluation of presentations this week is available through MyCourses. We will use the same form to evaluate brief written reports brought to class next week.
Week 1
- Requirements for the first presentations and written reports are available through MyCourses.
- Reading: read Chs. 10 and 11 of the Zobel book before coming to class.
- The following students will present their project description in class next week: Siddharth Khilani, Shreyas Jayanna, Qian Ding, Manish Kanadje, Kevin Bradely, and Eliot Cuduco. These students are in 'Group 1'; all other students are in 'Group 2.'
- The course syllabus, schedule and required text (see "Resources") have been posted.
- Class meets every Tuesday at 9:30am in ICL5. There is no class on Thursdays, but Prof. Zanibbi has office hours from 9am-12pm Thursday mornings.
