In his teaching, Dr. Kinsman tries to emphasize critical thinking skills, and a solid understanding of what mathematical equations imply. When discussing algorithms, he emphasizes learning how algorithms fail so that students understand the limitations. His core topics include: Data Science and Computer Vision. He has also taught Computer Graphics, and intro to programming courses. He is fascinated with using visualization for data understanding, and more efficient learning.

Additionally, Professor Kinsman does a considerable amount of Community Education (often called "Outreach"). Community Education and Outreach Help Here.

Dr. Kinsman is happily married, and has two kids and a garden. He is a forth generation engineer.
