Classes This is a hard class, which is very technology oriented. My goal is to get you a general understanding how big computer networks and Internet works and what you can do there as well as to give you an opportunity to advance your algorithmical and programming skills by doing a course project. I will try to help you to develop your research skills also. You have to possess Java programming skills good enough to complete a sizeable programming project. Starting from week 2, we will have a graded class activity (quizzes, minor projects, group discussions) every week . You will have a main quarter project, which consists of a few parts. See here for more information and assessment. You will have a final exam, which will be scheduled during week 11. In addition to your projects, reading and programming assignments, you will be given some homework to do. Your homework will not be collected or graded by me but solutions will be provided. You are strongly advised to do your homework in order to learn this subject and to prepare yourself for your future study and work as well as for the quizzes and exams. In class in addition to traditional lectures I am planning discussions in small and big groups and debating some topics. I will be happy to see you at my office 70-3521 to discuss your concerns and to try to answer your questions , my office hours are MW 12 - 2 pm. |
