You definitely need to reformat the image, it makes it extremely difficult to read2017-02-26

This is incredibly frustrating to try to even begin reading. Did you not look to see how the post appears? Take the time to type your question instead of using a picture, or at the *very* least, have the picture oriented correctly so we don't have to scroll up and down and up and down over and over trying to read a low resolution picture sideways. You should also use a title for the question that has something to do with the actual question content... not your feelings on the situation or a request for help...2017-02-26

@JMoravitz Agreed. Unfortunately, the OP doesn't have to bother since this question actually got answered.2017-02-26

@Faizan Nabi Have a look at this diagram: http://www.darylscience.com/downloads/DblSunset.pdf2017-02-26

Assuming 1 day = 24 hours:

Draw a circle representing the Earth with radius $r$. Draw a line from the centre, $O$ to the 'north pole', $A$. Now draw a line with at a small angle $\theta$ (clockwise from $OA$) from $O $to slightly beyond the circumference on the circle, at a point we shall call $B$. If you imagine the light from the Sun coming from the left of this diagram, then the rest follows quite easily:

Then $OB$ = $r+1.7$, $OA$ =$ r$,

Using the time passed, we can determine $\theta$:

$\theta = \frac{11.1}{24\cdot 60\cdot 60}\cdot 2\pi$

Then we have $(r+1.7)\cos(\theta) = r$

Plugging in $\cos\theta$ gives $r= 5217.95813 km$

Why the downvote, did I make a mistake?2017-03-11

You made a mistake alright. You put way too much effort into answering a question that the asker himself put no effort into asking.2017-04-13

@BobHapp Well maybe, but answers can benefit visitors to the site other than the OP - I think it's unfair to punish someone solely for submitting an answer to a bad question - rather than the merit of the answer itself. That's just my opinion of course.2017-04-13
