I've been stuck while studying function of several variables in analysis. I'm using baby Rudin, and I've worked through the theorems (both by examining the proof and writing down the proof myself a few times), but when it comes to do exercises in the back, such as the seemingly simple exercise 8 about proving the derivative at a local maximum point is zero, I could hardly do any one of them. This has never happened when I studied the previous chapters, and I wonder if I should continue to do exercises, or to find other resources outside Rudin for help. How did you study analysis in several variables (especially for those using baby Rudin)? What was your experience?
