When the curves
$$y = x^2 + 4x -5$$
and $$y = \frac{1}{1+x^2} $$ are drawn in the $xy$-plane, how many times do the two graphs intersect for values of $x > 0$ ?

I equate the value of $y$, then the equation comes in the fourth power of $x$ . How I can solve this?

Thanks in advance.

Notice that the problem doesn't ask you to find the intersections, just conclude the number of them. Do you know how to graph the two curves? You can conclude the answer to this question with a thorough knowledge of the graphs.2012-03-06
