If I have a minimal polynomial ( p irred) $\ p(x)^n $, for example $ (x^2+x+1)^3 $ a characteristic polynomial $ p(x)^2 $ , how can i get a simple basis using the rational theorem? i dont understand it

It is difficult to understand what you are asking, really.2011-06-28

@Mariano: And it's impossible to have an operator with minimal polynomial equal to $(x^2+x+1)^3$ and characteristic polynomial equal to $(x^2+x+1)^2$. Presumably, he is asking about how to go about finding the rational canonical basis (or form), but it's pretty garbled.2011-06-28
