Here's how to set up a CS printer on a Windows machine:
Before you begin, make sure you have
a) a network connection on a CS subnet (IP address should be 129.21.36/37.*)
b) a samba account
First, open Start->Run and type \\mordor.cs.rit.edu then press Enter
---if a window does not appear, check your network connection, then see me
Double-click on the Printer you wish to install
Click "Yes" to install the printer, and "Ok" to install the driver
Click "Have Disk"
Browse to My Network Places(or Network Neighborhood)->Entire Network->Microsoft Windows Network->Cslab->Mordor(Samba 2.2.8a)->Public->Drivers->Printers
Select the printer you wish to install
Select the OS you are using
Select the ps (PostScript) folder
Highlight the *.inf file, then click "Open"
Click OK until the drivers are installed and a new window titled with the name of the printer appears
NOTE: You will get a notice in the title bar of "Access denied, unable to connect". Ignore it-it is related to how we've set up the printers, and isn't true.
At this point, you should be all set. If you run into problems, email me at srw at cs.rit.edu
