if my regular hours won't work with your schedule.
Just give me a call, or send an e-mail.
Class Attendance
Class attendance is mandatory and I will make a record of your
attendance.
Quizzes and Exams
Exams and quizzes (if they are a required component of the course) may be on any class day of the week, and will be announced in class at least one week before the exam or quiz. Make-ups for quizzes or exams are not allowed. No dropped quizzes or exams. The final exam will be announced as soon as it is posted, and will be given during final exam week.
Homework
If homework is assigned and required to be handed in, it will be due on the given due date before class begins. Once class begins, homework is considered late and will be penalized by deducting 10% off of the grade you would have received. Every day after the due date, a late assignment will be penalized by deducting another 10% off the grade you would have received. If you must miss class make sure you get your homework to me in advance via e-mail, or by giving it to a friend who will be in class, or by dropping it in the mailbox outside of my office. Make sure you do this before the class time in which it is due. Every homework counts toward your grade, no drops.
Projects
If a project is assigned, it will be due on the date given on the project write-up, by 11:59:00pm. For example, if the due date is Monday, the project will be due on Monday by 11:59:00pm. One second later, at 11:59:01pm, electronic submissions will be turned off and you will be unable to submit the project. Projects will not be accepted late FOR ANY REASON!!! Occasionally the RIT network goes down before midnight and you might be unable to submit the project on time. Or you might be very ill on the day that the project is due. Or your laptop might be lost or damaged just before the project is due. None of these are valid reasons for a late project and you will receive a grade of 0 if you have not submitted something already. Be sure to have something submitted before the deadline in case any of these things, or worse, happens. Also, you will get no credit for a project that does not compile on our machines, even if it compiles and runs perfectly on your machine. Showing me that it runs perfectly on your machine is irrelevant, and will not get you any points on the project, i.e., it is your responsibility to make sure your project is submitted on time, under any circumstance, and that it runs on the CS machines. There is no valid excuse for a late project. Be sure to submit early and often so that this will not be a problem for you.
Academic Honesty
I take a very severe view of academic dishonesty, and I will handle any
such incident according to the Department of Computer Science Policy on Academic Dishonesty.
