Assignment 9 - Due November 7
- Final presentations: Each student will give a three-minute presentation
summarizing their final pre-proposal (submit both your pre-proposal and
presentation through MyCourses)
- Important Note: To receive a grade in the course, pre-proposals must be
approved by your advisor via an email sent to both Prof. Bischof
hpb@cs.rit.edu and me
rjb@cs.rit.edu. This must be done by
midnight of November 18th (Friday of finals week).
Assignment 8 - Due October 31
- All students need to submit an updated pre-proposal draft before class
on Monday October 31.
- Read Zobel text on graphs and figures in technical writing Ch. 6.
- Each student will give an update on their pre-proposal progress in class
(1-2 minutes). No slides are required for this presentation but you are free
to use them if you like
Assignment 7 - Due October 24
- You may submit updated drafts of your pre-proposal using the "October
24" dropbox on
myCourses.

Assignment 6 - Due October 17

- Read Zobel text algorithms and pseudocode Ch. 7
- Each student will give an update on their pre-proposal progress in class
(1-2 minutes). No slides are required for this presentation but you are free
to use them if you like.
Assignment 5 - Due October 10

Assignment 3 - Due September 26

- Please Note: Students should be actively seeking out faculty with whom
to carry out their thesis or project.
- Each student will give an update on their pre-proposal progress in class
(1-2 minutes). No slides are required for this presentation but you are free
to use them if you like.

Assignment 2 - Due September 19
- Read Zobel text on Hypotheses and Research Areas (169-182)
- On
myCourses, submit a rough
version of your thesis/project pre-proposal, which must include citations
for two research papers related to your research topic. It is highly
recommended that you find a survey paper of your research topic; make to
sure to check ACM Computing Surveys.
- Prepare a (3-4 minute) presentation summarizing the topic and the two
papers included in your submitted pre-proposal draft. Submit your slides
through
myCourses.
You will be presenting these slides on September 19.
