Brief summaries of the early story line, with no spoilers. Similar to liner notes, but more cogent, one hopes.
Search for a character in a book or the entire corpus
Character searches are made by determining if the string entered is part of a name in the book database and are not case sensitive. For example, searching for "WiN" in Fer-de-Lance will give both Archie Goodwin and Derwin the assistant DA.
Information can be limited to the name only, a basic biography with no spoilers, or a more complete biography with spoilers. Searches can be made using the these categories:
- Principal characters
- People who play an extensive and important role in the case. Killers, victims and clients are considered de facto primary.
- Secondary characters
- People who play an extensive not less important role in the case.
- All principle and secondary characters
- Killer(s)
- Victim(s)
- Client(s)
- Minor characters
- Other people who play minor role but are still germane to the plot.
- Non-germane Characters
- Characters mentioned in passing or who occur mainly to make the story more realistic. For example:
Included primarily for character searches.
- The orchid growers that petition Wolfe to take the Red Box case.
- Doormen, miscellaneous policemen and officials.
- A major character from another book that's mentioned.
- Weapons
- Only those used in the crimes, e.g. Archie's guns are not included. Select the spoiler option to see how it was used.
NOTE: The intent is to include all names mentioned in the book. Please send me email if I missed a name or you disagree with a categorization or facts in a bio - I'm more than willing to reconsider.
