Well, the streak has been broken. Margaret and I had been canoeing for ![]()
consecutive months in Rochester NY, from March 1998 to December 1999. At the
end of March '98 the temperature reached 80 degrees. We couldn't resist going
fishing, but didn't stay out very long because it never occurred to us to bring
along sunscreen! December '99 included some warm days, but the ponds were still
topped with a lot of "hard water." We had a warm day early in January
'00, but didn't go out because we had just gotten back from a hike, and the
rest of January was too cold. No matter--even if we had gone out then, February
offered no opportunities for canoeing. Once the streak was broken, we stopped
looking for opportunities. C'est la vie!
