This was another sunny day. We hadn't had this long a stretch of rainless weather all summer.
We've put the top wall assemblies in place and "Chainsaw"
Bob is laying out the cutting line on the top of the wall while "Kamakazee"
Joe offers sage advice.
Ray cuts the slope on the back of one wall. The 7 1/2
inch circular saw went less than halfway through the logs: finishing the
cut was interesting.
"Chainsaw" Bob trims the angle on the top section
of one wall while Ray steadies the assembly and Ken gives guidance. The
trick when putting this section together is to place the bolts so that
you don't hit them with the saw when making these cuts!
Margaret adds silicone caulk (messy stuff) between the
logs. Keeping the wind out is sort of a moot point in a building with
only three walls.
Ray cuts the back slope of the top assembly of the other wall. |
We're setting the ridge pole in place! |
The end of Day Three:
We're ready for the rafters and the roof! |
After dinner, we went for a hike and came upon this pretty
little pond.
On the way back, the sun shown beneath the clouds overhead
giving this dramatic lighting.
