I am an associate professor in the Department of of Computer Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). In the CS Master's program, I am a member of the Distributed Systems Cluster. I am also involved in the Ph.D. in the Computing and Information Sciences program in the college. I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science at Purdue University. My research interests lie in the areas of computer networks, cloud computing, wireless mobile networks, and distributed systems. I am a member of ACM, ACM SIGCOMM, IEEE, and the IEEE Communications Society.

Research

  1. Cloud computing and mobile devices: We study load balancing and parallel computing in the cloud, and interactions between mobile devices and the cloud.
  2. P2P overlay networks: We have developed a topology-aware overlay multicast scheme, characterized overlay multicast, and developed a cooperative overlay internetworking architecture. We are investigating more applications that exploit efficient structured p2p overlays and even unstructured p2p systems.
  3. Network security: We are exploring the security concerns that p2p overlay systems face, and investigating algorithms and mechanisms that mitigate these concerns. Recently, we have also studied the vulnerabilities in VoIP.
  4. NSF-REU program: High performance file systems and data visualization at http://www.cs.rit.edu/~reu
  5. Old projects: In the past, we studied network congestion control, software watermarking, and mobile robots for networking education.
