Lab 4 - Collections

You may copy the jar file for this lab by issuing the command below from your CS account (on a Linux machine):

cp ~csx/public_html/lab4.jar .

Overview

The purpose of this lab is to get you aquianted with the Java Collections Framework.

This lab will be completed over two weeks but you are required to submit solutions each week. The deliverables defined here (for the Week 4 activities) are due on your regular lab due date. You must successfully complete every activity in this lab in order to complete lab 5. Be sure you complete each activity and exhaustively test your solutions.

When try tests your programs, only simple tests are run. It is up to you to extensively test your solutions or you will have a difficult time next week trying to locate defects in your code.

We have provided you with skeleton solutions for the classes you will implemement. Click here to obtain a copy of the jar file.

Pre-Lab Activities

1. Review your class notes and review the basic functionality of Maps, Lists and Sets

1. Gain experience in storing and retrieving data using objects in the Collections Framework
2. Gain more experience in writing a complete class from the javadoc
3. Implement a larger system with multiple object types
