  3. Prepare for a 30 minute quiz that will be closed book/notes on Thursday

  4. Turn in the Make Somebody Smile assignment


Week 2

Tuesday: Assignment problems?, syntax of a basic Java program, Javadocs, assignment, style, iceblox java file, and applet

Wednesday: expressions, modulo, shifting bits

Thursday: Make Somebody Smile

Assignments:

  1. Tell the professor if you're still having technical issues.

  2. Read Chapter 3

  3. Unix Hunt assignment due Wednesday night

  4. Make Somebody Smile (up on Thursday)


Week 1

Tuesday: Introduction, conferencing, how computers work (and why you should care), and running your first Java program

Wednesday: Unix, compilation, and variables. Morrowind Clip and Oblivion Clip.

Thursday: Unix scavenger hunt and your account on the CS systems

Assignments:

  1. Before class starts: try to download/install the Java SDK and other programs for class. See the Required Software Setup link on the menu

  2. Read book chapters 1 and 2, and try out and type in simple programs

  3. Unix scavenger hunt
