Research Interests

• Linear Pixel Shuffling (LPS) -- a technique to visit all the pixels in an image (i.e., cells in an array) in a very mixed-up order. This technique is reminiscent of quasi-random number generation as is used for Monte Carlo integration. LPS has applications in fast image morphology, digital halftoning, progressive image rendering, neural network initializing.

• Fibonacci numbers -- the inspiration for the mathematics underlying Linear Pixel Shuffling (LPS). Consider the list of multiples of F_n modulo F_n+1; this is an excellent ``shuffling'' of the natural numbers below F_n+1. LPS generalizes this shuffle to higher dimensions.
