Setting up Mozilla/Thunderbird/SeaMonkey
- In the Seamonkey Window, click the Window menu button at the top of the window.
- Select the 'Mail & Newsgroups' menu option
*A window will open up to step you through creating an account if you have
none already created. If not, select one of the bold menu items on the
left and then select 'Create a new account.'
- Be sure that 'Email account' is selected
- Click 'Next'
- Change 'Your Name' to your name
- Change 'Email Address' to yourusername@cs.rit.edu (ie, abc1234@cs.rit.edu)
- Click 'Next'
- Set the type of incoming server to IMAP
- Change 'Incoming Server' to mailhost.cs.rit.edu
- Change 'Outgoing Server' to mailhost.cs.rit.edu
- Click 'Next'
- Be sure that 'User Name' is set to your CS username
- Click 'Next'
- Either leave the 'Account name' as is or use any name you want to identify
the account as.
- Click 'Next'
- Click 'Finish'
*A Warning message may come up stating that you are unable to connect to the
IMAP server. This is ok, because we are not done yet. Seamonkey attempts to
connect to the server before we are done. Click 'OK' if this message comes
up.
- Select the Menu option on the left that corresponds to the name you
chose in step 14.
- Under the Accounts heading, Select 'View Settings for this Account'
- Under the headding for this account, choose 'Server Settings'
- Turn on the 'Use secure connection (SSL)' option.
- Select 'OK'
